National Botanic Gardens
We are indeed fortunate at The Mill because only 15 minutes away is the National Botanic Gardens of Wales which opened in Easter 2000. The centrepiece of which is the Great Glasshouse - the World's largest single span glasshouse.
Within the concourse of the great glasshouse is a bioverse which enables visitors to live, hear, feel and smell how plants work and the role plants play in the health of our planet.
Aberglasney Gardens
Also only 15 minutes away are the Mysterious Gardens of Aberglasney where you can discover an ancient garden of the 17th century with its ponds, parapets and arches as well as a Yew Tunnel which is reputedly 1,000 years old.
Leisure Activities
The Mill and its location has a wide diversity of leisure pursuits from just relaxing in our grounds and watching the River Loughor flow by, to fishing, golf, walking, pony trekking, mountain biking, or just visiting the many wonderful sights in our area.
Bird Watching
The Red Kite is quite often spotted over The Mill, as are many other quite rare birds. There are 2 Red Kite Feeding Centres, The Black Mountain Red Kite Centre is about 1/2 hour drive from The Mill & Gilgrin Farm in Rhyader is about 1 hour away. Both centres provide hides and pre-booking is advised.
National Wetlands Centre, Llanelli
Located in the nearby town of Llanelli, is the National Wetlands Centre where you will find a Swannery & hides, where you can observe the bird life on the estuary.
Horse Riding & Shooting
Horse riding & shooting are available at Palecwrt Equestrian & Shooting ground. The centre is located just 5 miles from The Mill with direct access onto The Brecon Beacons. Lessons for both riding & clay pigeon shooting are available for all abilities.
Bowls
The gentle sport of Indoor Bowls is available in Ammanford, Carmarthen & Llanelli, these centres are pleased to offer you both equipment hire and tuition, refreshments are also available.
